I know many of you feel a special love and affection for my mom. Joe and I want to give you this space in time to voice your gratitude, share your memories, and process some of your sadness.

This chapel has been a sanctuary for many, and it was my safe haven while caring for my mother and observing, for the first time, the process of dying.
I invite you to relax into silence, absorb the love in this room, collect your thoughts and memories, and feel Lucy in your heart.

After the music and prayer you are welcome to express your gratitude for your friend. May we all benefit from sharing our love for Lucy.
Kathy

“The growing good of the world is partly dependent on unhistorical acts; and that things are not so ill with you and me as they might have been, is half owing to the number who lived faithfully a hidden life, and rest in unvisited tombs.” George Eliot - Middlemarchgratefuldaughterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05434267058386465900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-138997444033255486.post-48113531660945366322009-06-15T20:37:00.000-07:002009-06-15T20:39:00.230-07:00Optimistic, happy, musical, caringLucy Emma Batchelor, 85, of St Petersburg Fla. 33714, passed away quietly Friday June 5, 2009 at Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park, Fla. Optimistic, happy, musical and caring. Everyone who knew Lucy describes her that way. She was born on November 21, 1923 in Unity Township, Ohio. She was the daughter of Clyde and Cathrine Klitz Wilhelm. She worked as a secretary at Fitzpatricks Industries, East Palestine, Ohio and was a homemaker. In 1990, she and her husband George moved to Florida where she worked as a caregiver for Bayshore Homecare in Fla. Friends, music, faith and family were all important to Lucy. She was an active member of the United Church of God and had many friends at the Sunshine Center. She is survived by a brother, Clarence, of North Lima, Ohio; by four children, James of Reno Nev., Robert of East Palestine Ohio, Kathryn Terry of Seminole Fla., Michael of Fairview, Pa.; and by six Grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, who she married June 29, 1944 and by three brothers Delmer, Norman, and Glen Wilhelm, and by a grandson Christopher Batchelor. Burial will be in Bay Pines National Cemetery. A celebration of her life by her children and friends will follow. Memorials may be sent to Woodside Hospice, 6774 102nd Ave. N. Pinellas Park, FL 33782-2909 or to the charity of ones choice.gratefuldaughterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05434267058386465900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-138997444033255486.post-17337848285616759612009-06-15T20:32:00.000-07:002009-06-15T20:34:14.479-07:00A Special and Honorable MotherHi Kathy and family,

I am so sorry for your great loss--and it was a Great loss-- but am grateful that Lucy didn't linger and suffer more.
I have not had much contact recently but I always thought she was a very special lady. As others, I remember her cheery, smiling face and positive friendly manner. She was always happy when we would meet and I always enjoyed talking with her and doing things together. I have good memories of singing alto together in the choir and sharing laughs in our other activities. She is one very sweet lady and I look forward to seeing her again in the Kingdom. She stayed the course and brought delight to many. You are fortunate to have had such a Special and honorable Mother. You are in my prayers. She would share her grapefruits with us until the tree blew down in a storm.

Soon after we moved to Florida we had an opportunity to spend the day with Kathy and Lucy at the water park by Busch Gardens. Lucy was fun loving and adventurous, not afraid to go down the slides ending with a big splash. We also enjoyed floating leisurely on inner tubes around the Rambling Bayou.

I remember visiting her home after the women's retreat. Her house was filled with photos and momentos of her family. She loved and was so proud of each and every one of them.

She served the church in a humble way with her radiant smile and sharing her love of music. I spoke with her after the feast last year and she was so grateful to spend the feast in Branson with Beulah and Chuck Little.

We are thankful to have had the opportunity to share many wonderful times with Lucy and her family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Fran, Larry, Sarah & Teri Haneygratefuldaughterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05434267058386465900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-138997444033255486.post-81235395653491330742009-06-05T11:04:00.000-07:002009-06-05T11:05:14.951-07:00In our HeartsOur hearts and prayers are with Lucy as she goes through this trial. I never heard a negative word from her. Mike (her youngest son) inherited her no-nonsense attitude. I'm sure she is very proud of how wonderful her kids turned out.

Kay and Coog
gratefuldaughterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05434267058386465900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-138997444033255486.post-73525136961889258092009-06-04T19:22:00.001-07:002009-06-04T19:23:50.090-07:00Wish it were betterDear Lucy and Family,

It was my pleasure to have met you and your caring family. She has an audio tape of the piece. I'll bet she
would love to hear it about now.
She's such a dear, sweet lady. Nothing can diminish that thought.

Gene and Barbaragratefuldaughterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05434267058386465900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-138997444033255486.post-82475684602610168672009-06-04T18:50:00.000-07:002009-06-04T18:52:27.139-07:00Her smile lights up a room!Kathy, your Mom has always been such a joy-her smile lights up a room!
