DEAR LUCY,
I HAVE MANY MEMORIES OF YOU OVER THE YEARS- VISITING YOU IN YOUR OHIO HOME- YOU MADE KATHY AND I A DELIGHTFUL SOUP WITH VEGETABLES FROM YOUR GARDEN WHEN WE ARRIVED FROM TX ON A SCHOOL BREAK.
.... THEN THERE WAS THE YEAR THAT YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND RENTED MY APARTMENT IN PASADENA FOR THE FEAST. I FELT APPRECIATIVE AND HONORED TO BE ABLE TO HAVE YOU STAY IN MY HOME.
ONE YEAR I CAME TO THE FLORIDA, AND I RECALL SEEING YOUR HOME AND SHARING A NUMBER OF MEALS TOGETHER.
I REMEMBER YOUR BEAUTIFUL SMILE, ENERGY, QUICK WIT, AND LOVE OF FINE THINGS- INCLUDING MUSIC. FINALLY, I TREASURE THE SPECIAL FRIENDSHIP I HAVE SHARED WITH YOUR DAUGHTER (AND HER FAMILY) OVER SO MANY YEARS- SHE HAS INHERITED MANY OF YOUR DELIGHTFULLY ENGAGING TRAITS.
THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU. PLEASE KNOW YOU ARE IN MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.
WITH LOVE & HUGS,
SUE BLUMEL-BERG
PS- PERHAPS KATHY HAS MENTIONED THAT I AM LOSING MY OWN MOTHER SLOWLY, TO ALZHEIMERS. IT IS DIFFICULT FOR ALL OF US, BUT HAS DEEPENED OUR APPRECIATION FOR EACH OTHER, FOR WHAT BEING A FAMILY MEANS, AND ALL THE BLESSINGS (AND CHALLENGES) WHICH COME WITH THE "PACKAGE".
